Greetings!

The May Print of the Month is "Nude on Bench" 8x10 Silver Gelatin.

Looks like judging is in the air for the Weston household. Kim has just finished judging two Fine Art Nude Photography competitions (Carrie Leigh's Nude Magazine & The Artful Nude Contest in Fort Collins) and we have just finished judging our 2008 Weston Scholarship Contest. We had 42 Portfolios submitted this year. With 2, First Place $1000 Awards, 2nd Place $500, 3rd Place $300 and 13, $200 Honorable Mentions! Congratulations to all that won and thanks to all of the students that applied. The Scholarship Awards Ceremony is going to be held in conjunction with a student exhibition which will be on Friday May 23, 2008 6PM - 7PM at The Marjorie Evans Gallery, 8th and San Carlos at The Sunset Center, Carmel CA. The exhibition runs May 23 to June 15. If you are in town we hope you can see the show.

Workshops
We are just about to begin Developing Your Personal Style Workshop with Kim and guest artist teacher Huntington Witherill. This will be the first workshop we have hosted with Huntington. We will be photographing at Point Lobos, then returning to Wildcat Hill to photograph a model. We will then go through each artist's processes, critique work, meet local artists, discuss photography and have 2 homemade dinners! Our friends Martin and Mary Reekie are here from Scotland to join us. (Martin arranged our Scotland Workshops in 2004 and 2006)

May 13-19 Puebla Mexico
Kim and I will be traveling down to Puebla Mexico to see the Edward/Kim Weston Fotografos Exhibition that has traveled from The Manuel Bravo Photography Center in Oaxaca to The Museo-Taller Erasto Cortés in Puebla, Mexico. They have invited us down to teach 15 students about Nude Photography, Large Format and the Platinum Process. We are looking forward to meeting everyone there.

If you are interested in taking this workshop send me an email to let me know, if I can't get enough interest in it, Kim & I have discussed changing the content to Large Format or maybe making digital negatives to print in Silver Gelatin instead of Platinum.

We cancelled our 2008 June Large Format Workshop to go to The Foto 3 Conference in Fort Collins. Due to low enrollment in class we have decided not to attend. We are very sorry about this.

Wildcat Studio II is filling up fast. If you are interested in participating in this workshop let me know.

I will be working on posting Kim's new limited edition photographs when I return from Puebla.
