Kim, Zach, and Annabelle returned yesterday afternoon from the Desert Figure Workshop with Mark Comon from Creative Photo Academy where they spent four and a half days photographing, enjoying the sun, and making new friends with the incredibly talented workshop participants.

For this workshop, we reserved the entirety of the Anahata Springs Resort so as to fully immerse our students in fine-art nude photography in a private and distraction-free environment. Our creative director, and Kim's former model, Larva, set up beautifully themed, pool-side cabanas, participants were introduced to underwater figure photography, and group critiques were held in the common room twice everyday. By the end of the week, we were pleased to see the noticeable growth in every photographer's work and will be sure to share images from our students soon!

Two of the workshop's four days were spent photographing in Joshua Tree National Park where the scenery was breath-taking and the lighting perfect. Our models posed atop impressive, rugged rock formations and amidst the chaotic serenity of the Mojave Desert's landscape.

We also had the opportunity to photograph at Cabot's Pueblo Museum for the first time! Cabot Yerxa was an artist, writer, architect, and human rights activist who was concerned about the legal, economic, and cultural crises faced by Native Americans. Yerxa built his home with re-purposed materials he had collected throughout the desert from 1941 until his death in 1965. The opportunities for photographs around the property were endless and we had such a wonderful time.

As always, Kim prepared family-style meals every night which were enjoyed together in warmth of Desert Hot Spring's evening air. Students enjoyed the resort's indoor mineral bath and outdoor heated swimming pool and were able to build relationships with the models, instructors, and their fellow students. We hope you will be able to join us for next year's desert adventure!
