The Coast. Carmel to Big Sur. David Vestal, Kim Weston and Al Weber

(From Al Weber's 2010 Newsletter)

"Famed as the home of Dirty Harry, and others, (such as Edward Weston, Ansel Adams and Wynn Bullock). Of course we'll do Point Lobos and find a few of Edward tripod holes. This is Kim's bailiwick. On to the old Coast Road, once traveled only by a stagecoach. This is a favorite of Weber. And somewhere along the way, we'll work in David. Never fear".

"This stretch of the Central California Coast is special. A narrow, twisty road, home to humongous motor homes and insane motorcyclists, contrast the rugged cliffs and crashing waves. Sometimes a biker also crashes, but don't feel too sorry for them as the last one sued the state and got a 7 plus million of your dollars. The weather can never be predictable. Some sun. maybe a little rain and always lots of wind. "The Greatest Meeting of Land and Sea in the World" said painter Francis McComas, and that might be hard to challenge. McComas, While doing a giant mural map of the Monterey Peninsula in 1926, got a ticket in Pacific Grove for speeding. therefore McComas omitted Pacific Grove from the map. Kim lives in Edward's old house on Wildcat Hill, about a mile south of Point Lobos. Weber lives up the hill, just above and David, God bless him, lives way back in Connecticut. But don't let that fool you, David is one crafty old rascal, and sees many things long overlooked by others".

"Days will be spent in a run and shoot mode. Evenings will be back to the studio to swap lies and horror stories. We'll look at prints, but this workshop is about making photographs of a fine landscape/seascape. We can discuss this further after dark with a glass of wine in hand".
