Workshop Testimonials  2007

Hi Gina and Kim,
Thanks for the great workshop this past weekend. It was awesome to get your insight and knowledge of photography and fun just to hang out with you guys. The dinner was great and fun to see portfolios. I am going to do
another one when I can. Thanks again, Stan

Hi Gina & Kim,
Thank you so much for all the information and your hospitality at the recent Large Format Workshop. I really learned a lot and am excited to explore more and more with my 4X5 camera. My darkroom is ready to go, now I really need one of those Jobo’s…..
After the workshop I went to Yosemite and Mono Lake and retook several photos I had taken with my RB67 previously. They look good just need to find time to print them. I also spent ˝ a day at the Presidio in SF photographing the old batteries near the Golden Gate Bridge. I think the other tourists were wondering about me as I was taking photos of a crumbling concrete bunker and not the bridge.
Saturday night was certainly one of the highlights of my trip. Meeting Huntington and his wife and seeing his, Randy’s, Kim’s and Kodiak's work was very special. It was at the same time exhilarating and depressing. Depressing in that my work may not ever reach that level of quality (not that I will ever stop trying to reach that height) and exhilarating to see the tremendous artistic talent. Photography is a fine art and deserves to be treated as such.
My three days with you and Kim went by much too quickly. I hope I can make it out again for one of your workshops. If you are ever in Minnesota you are always welcome at my home.
Take care and best wishes!
Bob

productive and very informative. . . and great company!

Hi Kim and Gina,
Thanks for a great workshop! I loved being back in the darkroom splashing in chemicals. I knew I missed being in the darkroom, I just didn't know how much until I was there. Great space! Kim, I forgot to get paper samples, so can you tell me what kind of paper we used? I know it was Cranes, but don't know the weight or type. Also, Gina, I didn't get a class contact sheet. Could you e-mail one when you get a chance? I know the student competition is probably keeping you busy at the moment.
Take care,
Chris

Hi Gina and Kim:
I never really got to mail you back. But I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoyed the Pixels to Platinum workshop, I learned a lot and I liked the way it was conducted, I walked away full and ready to roll.
I understood Kim's philosophy about keeping things simple, however I could have wished to have seen/ been introduced to other paper types and how they react doing Platinum, like a mini survey, not a big issue but would have been nice. All in all it was great learning days.

Hello All,
Thank you all for your wonderful camaraderie and your generosity of support and encouragement in all things photographic. This was my first exposure to platinum work and my first meeting with the famous (and delightful) “Efros Contingent” from Arizona. It was an amazing four days of discovery – and re-discovery of Pt Lobos after a long absence – all in the incredible, inspiring setting of Wildcat. It’s been a long time since I have had such a concentrated time dedicated to photography, and the workshop has certainly sparked the desire to get back into this creative space.

Ray and I look forward to the opportunity to see you again. We hope you will feel free to stay with us should your travels bring you to the beautiful and diverse Sacramento region.

All the best in your photographic ventures,

Jan

Gina-
Thank you so much for sending these! I wasn't aware you were photographing at that time; this is so nice to have! Thank you also for the class list.
I had a wonderful time during the workshop. I'm sure in part it was the comradery of the group, which was great. But certainly one of the reasons it was so special was the way you set up your workshops. Having it at your house, feeling welcome almost as family is a really unique thing in this world. Thank you so much for such a special weekend. Marty and I got back in town Monday evening, just barely late for our class. Yesterday I developed negatives literally all day long! It was nice to have the extra day off to do that, plus it made me feel that it wasn't fully over yet. Today back at work, but large format class tonight.....I am slowly easing my way back into reality! I'll be in touch soon to pay for my print.
Thank you again-
Very best to you, Kim, and Zach-
Joyce

My thanks for another wonderful workshop. The two of you are marvelous hosts and provide a warm and creative space for our photography. I very much appreciate having had an opportunity to work in your home with you, and the models and participants are always just great! Kim’s new work is very exciting and I’m pleased to see that he is reaching out to a large appreciative audience. I like everything- the new photography, the new work of painting on photography, the “big” prints- its all great! The two of you are a grand inspiration!
So, my thanks again and all the best,
Hank
