This Friday is the start of our second to last workshop of the 2018 season! We are thrilled to once again welcome a group of 9 photographers to Wildcat Hill for two days of intensive instruction and photography.
On Saturday, January 6, 2018, join Roman Loranc, the Weston family, and the Center for Photographic Art's (CPA) executive director, Brian Taylor, for an intimate dinner party at Edward Weston's home on Wildcat Hill!
The party will be held following the opening of Roman's upcoming show at the CPA, Poetry of the Lens and is limited to 10 guests.
We had an amazing time in September at our last Wildcat Workshop of the year with new and returning photographers from all over the country. Friends were made, breath-taking images were produced, and endless fun was had! Thank you to our beautiful models, talented participants, and visiting artists!
Well, we have had a hell of a time these past few weeks here at Wildcat Hill! A fire started south of us in the Garrapata State Park on the Soberanes Trail. Some of you know of it and have hiked it many times! Our first scare was that it was going to burn down Cole's house (Kim's father's property) in Garrapata Canyon. We were out of town at a wedding and didn't get home until very late and by that time the driveway was blocked and an evacuation was in progress. A family member drove down and persuaded the personal that was guarding the road to let him in and he was able to retrieve some of our belongings. We sat on pins and needles and then we were lucky that it was spared. Then the fire started coming north and then west. It was so close to the headwaters of Wildcat Canyon! I was totally freaked out. Many of our friends lost their homes in Palo Colorado Canyon. The feeling of loss has been overwhelming and so sad. We are fine out of danger, but the fire is still burning east and south of us and we have good friends in both of these areas.
Are you planning for some time off? Come and stay at Wildcat Hill in Bodie House this summer! The season is in full swing. What a great spring we have had so far. We had 2, 4 Generation Weston Shows hung consecutively at the same time, one at Viewpoint Gallery in Sacramento and one at the Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco. Both shows came down on June 4. We hope you had a chance to see some of the photographs. Thank you to the Viewpoint Gallery and to the Scott Nichols Gallery. And thanks to all that attended!
We have taught 2 Nude Photo Workshops, where we made some wonderful images, photographed with some talented artists and worked with our talented models, Jennifer Jones, Sara Streeter and a new model, Marian Liddell. It was a great experience.
Thank you so much for our stay at the Bodie House, in the very interesting Monterey Bay area. We have enjoyed learning a little about the exploits of the Weston's through your collection of books and other "stuff".
All the best for the future,
From Kathleen and Neale Melbourne, Australia
Thank you for a wonderful stay - 3 nights @ "Wildcat Hill" The Bodie House was a high point on a California trip, full of beauty and delights. Seeing Edward Weston's home and darkroom was something I will always hold onto and be inspired by. Our best to your family if we're ever back within 300 miles of California, I hope to be back.

Gina and Kim,
Both gorgeous and serene; full of memories (history!) and vision. It's been a joy for a photographer and his wife to stay at Bodie House. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

Gina and Kim,
Loved our stay at Bodie House. Ideal location for going to some of the area parks. The tile and artwork is beautiful and I love how you've incorporated nature into the decor (shells, rocks). Thanks for the tip on the Sea Harvest Restaurant super!
