Thinking Like an Artist
A Weston Wildcat Seminar
This is not a traditional photography workshop. This is an opportunity to experience the creative process of one of America's great artists and photographers, Kim Weston grandson of Edward Weston. In this two day intensive seminar, Kim will share his vision of fine art photography and the experiences which inform his creative process. He will illustrate this by discussing how his vision has changed and developed by viewing his own images taken over almost forty years of fine art photography.
Thinking Like an Artist is a perfect introduction into our April Wildcat Studio Nude Workshop. This seminar will prepare you for the two days of photographing on Wildcat Hill where you can take your ideas and put them into action with professional models!
Kim will discuss how he approaches both an outdoor location and a studio location, his process for creating a scene, placement of the model in the scene, and identifying the important elements of an art photography. Kim will discuss conceptualizing an image before being on location and reacting to a location once on site. Kim will construct an outdoor and studio set up and photograph a model in both settings and then discuss the final image. Participants will have an opportunity to construct an outdoor and studio image, photograph it, and then discuss the final product. Participants will not leave this two day event with multiple images but should leave with an intimate appreciation of the creative process and the elements of a fine art photograph.
