Photographing the Human Form | A Weston Photography Workshop

Weston Photography hosted an unforgettable three-day Fine Art Figure Model Workshop, bringing together photographers from across the country to immerse themselves in the timeless tradition of fine art nude photography. Set against the stunning coastal backdrops of Wildcat Hill and a private residence in Big Sur, this workshop was a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of the human form through the lens of natural light, dynamic composition, and artistic intention.

Led by professional instructors deeply rooted in the Weston legacy, participants spent three immersive days photographing three professional models, each selected for their ability to express emotion, grace, and strength through form and movement. The models collaborated closely with photographers, creating an inspiring and respectful space for creative exploration.

Throughout the workshop, participants received personalized instruction on composition, working with natural light, posing direction, and developing a narrative with the human form. Group critiques and one-on-one feedback sessions were built into the schedule, creating opportunities to reflect, refine, and elevate each photographer’s vision. Whether they were shooting medium format film or digital, students walked away with a series of strong, portfolio-ready images—and a deeper understanding of what it means to photograph with intention.

Perhaps most meaningful was the camaraderie built over the three days—shared meals, inspiring conversations, and the mutual respect among artists and models alike. For many, it was not just a workshop but a transformational experience that deepened their connection to photography as both a craft and a form of personal expression.
