Weston Photography's 2021 Wildcat Studio Nude and Big Sur Workshop

We had an amazing workshop last weekend with a great group of photographers. We had about half returning participants and the other half it was their first time working with us. Gwen stepped in last minute to model for us and we were so stoked to have her back on Wildcat Hill. It had been 3 years since we last worked with her! This was Steph’s first time modeling for a Weston Workshop and we were so pleased to work with her. She not only posed beautifully but had a great attitude and artistic mindset. We welcomed Lael back for another workshop this year and as always she was a pleasure to work with. This group was super fun and our cheeks hurt by the end from laughing so much.

Location 1: Wildcat Hill

Photographing at the home of Edward Weston is always a special experience. There is so much artistic energy here to build off of. It was a pretty typical summer day on Wildcat Hill with overcast skies and a light breeze. The models were champs and not once complained of being cold. The overcast sky created some beautiful lighting that is so fun to work with. It creates one giant soft-box!

Location 2: Big Sur

Unless you get the chance to visit a place like this in Big Sur you don’t really get the true feel for the region. This property is up the side of a mountain high atop a ridge in the heart of Big Sur. The property has been in the family for generations and Kim has known the family since he was first born. The property is covered with orange, nectarine, and apple trees and trellises laced with grapes. When we got to the location mid morning we were right on the sun line. You could see the fog whisping in front of your eyes as it was burning off. The sun came out and we couldn’t be happier with the day of shooting. There are so many opportunities up there for artistic nudes. We feel so fortunate to be able to go up there and to let others experience the true feeling of Big Sur. We can’t wait to go back in October for our next workshop.
