Weston Workshops Highlight: John Cornicello

John Cornicello is a portrait photographer based in Seattle, WA. He has been involved in photography since high school. His career started in New York City in 1979 working with large format (11x14 and 8x10) cameras doing catalog photography (think Montgomery Ward, JC Pennys, etc.). From there he went on to still life advertising photography. Then he discovered computers and broke away from photography for a while to work in a design and typesetting company. That led him to a 20 year career at Adobe Software in their Seattle, WA  office. He retired from Adobe in 2014 but remained in Seattle, where he resides today. In the late 1990s John found his way back into photography, but this time photographing people instead of products.

In 2000 John fully embraced digital photography, though he keeps a 5x7 Deardorff view camera next to his desk. In addition to running his studio he also teaches studio lighting and can often been seen on CreativeLive setting up lights and assisting instructors. He will be teaching the intro to studio lighting class at the Photographic Center Northwest in the fall of 2018. John also has a new book out called Anatomy of a Studio Portrait available at Amazon.com. John is also a member of the Interfit CreativePro team as a brand ambassador for Interfit lighting equipment. In his spare time John reads from his extensive library of photography and art books and he likes to play with electronic music synthesizers. He looks forward to making a portrait of you.
